Last night, Dean Tran (R-Fitchburg) won the Fitchburg State Senate special election. The Fitchburg City Counselor flipped the seat held by Jennifer Flanagan (D-Lunenburg), who resigned from the legislature to serve on the Cannabis Commission.
After running a campaign on lowering taxes, creating jobs and supporting education, Tran beat Susan A. Chalifoux Zephir (D-Leominster) by just over 600 votes, and his victory increases the Conservative ranks in the Senate chamber to 7 members. As a fiscal conservative, Senator Tran will be a force for positive fiscal discipline and will be a great addition to the legislature.
MassFiscal would like to congratulate State Senator Elect Dean Tran on winning and look forward to working with him.
