Tirade Against the Taxpayers - Vows to Go after “All the People Who Should Be Giving Us Money”

Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance made the following statement today regarding the Reason Foundation’s new rankings for their 27th annual highway report, which rates state highway systems on cost versus quality.

The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance made the following statement today in response to yesterday’s State House News Service interview with Speaker Bob DeLeo in which the Speaker reaffirmed his support for advancing his transportation bill, which includes an increase to the state’s gasoline and diesel tax to the tune of $600 million.

"Under Speaker DeLeo’s tax proposal, the state’s 24 cent fuel tax would increase to 29 cents per gallon for gasoline, which is a 20 percent increase, and diesel fuel would increase by 9 cents to 33 cents, which is a 38 percent increase."
