It’s time for Governor Maura Healey to Pursue the Common Sense Approach that is Winning Bipartisan Support
Yesterday, Connecticut Democratic Governor Ned Lamont gave a media interview in which he spoke about abandoning the electric vehicle mandate in his state. CLICK HERE to watch the interview. His interview indicated he was willing to make a common sense change, both in substance and in deference to the political reality, to the electric vehicle mandate policy. The Democratic Governor now joins New Hampshire in moving away from the mandate, providing a bi-partisan blue print for how New England states should tackle the issue. This news came the day before the Massachusetts legislature is expected to vote on a new climate bill, which will only continue to advance reliance on electrification despite our grids inability to handle the proposed load. With the northern and southern borders of Massachusetts no longer pursing electric vehicle mandates, it’s now time for Governor Maura Healey to abandon the electric vehicle mandates all together.
“Governor Ned Lamont, the Democratic Governor of Connecticut, is right to abandon the electric vehicle mandate and realize the commonsense change that is needed both in substance and in deference to the political reality of the November election. Massachusetts will be at an extreme competitive disadvantage if Governor Healey and the MA legislature continues to pursue an electric vehicle mandate. Pursuing this mandate in defiance of reality will have an extreme, negative effect on the quality of life of all residents of our Commonwealth. Connecticut and New Hampshire realize arbitrary made up mandates don’t work, and they will only increase costs for its residents. Its now Governor Healey’s turn to join the growing bi-partisan list of states, we are all waiting,” stated Paul Diego Craney, spokesperson for Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance.
