Campaign on WRKO, WBZ, Lowell Talk 1200, Worcester WTAG, Cape WXTK, Western MA WHYN, Southshore WTAD, and Newsradio Rhode Island
The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance is once again bolstering the YES on 1 campaign with a statewide media buy on talk radio, encouraging voters to make their voices heard by voting Yes on 1. The radio campaign, which launched this week, will run until Election Day and can be heard on several stations, including WRKO, WATD, WBZ, Lowell Talk 1200, Worcester WTAG, Cape WXTK, Western MA WHYN, Southshore WTAD, and Newsradio Rhode Island. The ads target conservative voters who may otherwise not vote because they feel their votes may not make a difference in a presidential election. This is the second consecutive election cycle where MassFiscal has used radio to inspire these audiences to get out and vote, particularly on ballot questions, regardless of where they live. “Vote Yes on 1 and No on 2 through 5. It’s that simple. If right-of-center voters in Massachusetts feel their vote doesn’t matter, we’ve got five reasons to show them otherwise. You don’t have to be right-leaning to agree with Yes on 1. Leaders on Beacon Hill have shown a disregard for the taxpayers, no matter which party you belong to. This very week, while we launched our radio campaign supporting efforts to make State House leaders more accountable and transparent, they tried to pass a highly controversial and complex energy bill without a recorded roll call vote and without most lawmakers even present,” said Paul Diego Craney, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance.
As the Boston Globe reported on Wednesday, when asked whether he would seek to repeal Question 1, House Speaker Rob Mariano said, ‘We’ll see how big the margin is.’”
“Even if voters approve Question 1, Speaker Mariano might feel emboldened to overturn their decision if the margin isn’t a landslide. That’s the level of abuse we’re up against. Voters can send a powerful message to Speaker Mariano and the legislative leadership that they work for us, the taxpayers. If you want to take a step to end this kind of abuse at the State House, vote Yes on 1,” Craney concluded.
